The Time to Act
Engaging in genuine discipline requires that you develop the ability to take action. You don't need to be hasty if it isn't required, but you don't want to lose much time either. Here's the time to act: when the idea is hot and the emotion is strong.
It Is Up To You
One of the first things successful people realize is the old adage, "if it is to be, it is up to me." That is, for you, the fact that your success and your course is up to you. This doesn't mean that you do it all alone. It simply means that you take responsibility for your life and your career.

Are You Lacking Self-Discipline? - Part 1
A man does not live until he begins to discipline himself;
he merely exists. Like an animal he gratifies his desires
and pursues his inclinations just where they may lead him.
He is happy as a beast is happy, because he is not conscious
of what he is depriving himself; he suffers as the beast
suffers, because he does not know the way out of suffering.
He does not intelligently reflect upon life, and lives in a
series of sensations, longings, and confused memories which
are unrelated to any central idea or principle. A man whose
inner life is so ungoverned and chaotic must necessarily
manifest this confusion in the visible conditions of his
outer life in the world; and though for a time, running with
the stream of his desires, he may draw to himself a more or
less large share of the outer necessities and comforts of
life, he never achieves any real success nor accomplishes
any real good, and sooner or later wordly failure and
disaster are inevitable, as the direct result of the inward
failure to properly adjust and regulate those mental forces
which make the outer life.

Top 4 Reasons Women Ride The ?Emotional Roller-Coaster?
1. Women have learned and are in the habit of being driven by the approval of others. Most women allow the expectations of others to define them and therefore making the approval of others is responsible for their happiness. This pattern gives others? the power to make and take your happiness at any time. Approval seeking steals your happiness and doesn?t allow you to ever get to know yourself, your wants, your desires, or your needs. A total disconnect. Thus an up and down roller-coaster of emotions. Not a pleasant way to live.
Wherever you Go - There you Are
Wherever you go, there you are. This is the title of a fantastic book by Jon Kabat Zinn. Often when going through a difficult time, some think about making a major change, a change of a job or residence. Will this really help? Of course if you are being abused or harassed, such action may be in order. But for the most part, if we change nothing about ourselves, we merely take what is inside of us wherever we wander.
Christian Gladiators? Athletics as a Metaphor for the Christian Lifestyle
When Paul first arrived in Corinth in the middle of his second missionary journey, Acts 18:2-3 reports that he joined Aquila and Priscilla in the occupation of making tents. This fits in well with what Paul himself wrote at about that same time. For example, in 1 Thess. 1:9, he says: "Surely you remember, brothers, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you." Similarly, in 2 Thess. 3:7-8, Paul states: "We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat any one's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.?

The only reason some people enjoy success while others fail is because those who succeed persist in holding the vision of what they want.
7 Key Steps to Unshakable Confidence
Do you remember that day? Perhaps it was your first job interview. Perhaps you were speaking to a group for the first time. Maybe you were starting a challenging new career or meeting a special person for the first time. Your throat became dry and your knees wanted to shake.
Extreme Makeover ? Compliments of Me
There is a fascination these days with reality shows that completely make over people, rooms, homes, businesses and now towns, in a short amount of time. I have to admit, I love them too. I love the neat story with a happy ending. They make it look easy, in spite of the pain and hard work many of them have to endure. People have always had this fascination. It?s no different than the old shows (and I?m dating myself here) like Bewitched, where Samantha, who was a witch, would just twitch her nose and, Voila! ? her house was clean as a whistle. To go even further back, there was a very popular show called The Millionaire, where a mysterious benefactor would come anonymously with a check for a million dollars and transform someone?s life.
Happy New Year
H appiness depends upon your outlook on life.
What Would You Change?
When talking with people about their life, or their job, or their current situation I always ask: "What one thing would you change about your life?"
Everything Going Against You

Letīs discover the importance of balancing preparation, timing and momentum. Itīs critical if you want to finally beat procrastination.
The Answer Is The Question ... Asking The Right Questions!
We all have questions about our lives, directions, and destinies. It is the curiosity of the unknown that intrigues us to ask of the future. It is the stress of the present and events of the past that cause us to wish for a future. But, under circumstances and with events that create stresses and distortions, our questions, demands, and wishes can create a future that is specifically implemented to answer our questions.

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
Recently a person attended one of my goal setting seminars with a different kind of focus; I will call him Richie. I had the feeling, as I was leading the group in a goal setting exercise, that Richie had recently traveled this road. After hearing his story I discovered that in fact he did have a new outlook on life; and goals attached.

Fear Emotions - Positive or Negative?
What is fear's purpose? How do you handle it? While I am
working in my pest control business, I meet people on an
almost daily basis who are influenced by negative fear
thoughts regarding pests invading their premises. A good

pretty quickly, and literally immobilize them. It consumes
their thoughts to the point where they have trouble thinking
about anything else.
Are You Ready To Make A Strong Finish?
Talk about a strong finish! In their inspiring story of perserverance which ultimately led to great success and victory, the Detroit Shock won their first ever WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) championship title. USA Today told of their "worst-to-first odyssey" where the team, after winning only nine games in 2002, they finished 2003 with a league-best record and championship title. What was their formula for success? "They did not quit... they believed they could succeed and played their best... They also have a coach in whom they believe and who gives them confidence."

How To Be Motivated Without A Motivator
Many professionals spend their entire careers working under managers or supervisors that don't truly understand the importance of motivation. This lack of understanding results in one of two things: 1) Low performance and productivity of the organization and staff or 2) Self-motivation of the professional, which results in high performance, satisfaction, and productivity. If you are in the low performance category then you know how difficult it is to reach your potential without someone motivating you. What you need to begin doing is motivating yourself.

Life After Prison - The Road Home, Vanishing Dreams
The basic trauma of being locked inside of a penal institution is often overlooked. The effect this system has on a person is very hard to imagine. Along with the institutional scars, each inmate carries his own internal wounds from his personal sense of suffering and loss. The average prisoner has several weeks notice before he is released. During this time he daydreams of spending time with his children, eating "real food" surrounded by family and friends. Some even fantasize about a parade waiting for them upon their release. No more counts, lockdowns or being told what to do. In a few weeks he will show the world how wrong it was for sending him here in the first place. The average prisoner holds onto the dream of starting his own business, helping at-risk youth, and traveling the world first class.
For the next several weeks all of their thoughts are positive and productive. Never a mention of being strung out on drugs, being in any kind of trouble. Nor a thought of anything other then complete success. There are far too many horrid memories of this place to ever want to come back.
As the day approaches the family encourages him constantly that all his dreams are plausible. Having been less then nothing the last ten years of his life there is nothing he wouldn't do to maintain his freedom. Taking a walk around the big yard, he looks at the walls that cast a shadow over his life during his time here. Blocking out all the death here because it no longer belongs to him. Trying to recall the young boy who first walked in here ten years ago yet unable reclaim his innocence. That's alright though, I don't need that boy because it's over now. I beat the system; I lived to walk out of here.
Step Out
Living your successful life requires you to step out. I remember as a teenager, right out of high school, learning this valuable lesson. Now - 15 years later - my life is the result of habitually stepping out.
Dont Let Failure Go To Your Head
I watched as an 8-year-old All-Star slid dramatically into second base. Yet the umpire gave the dreaded signal, "Out!" The crowd yelled, "That's OK. Way to hustle! Great try!"

Forward Motion
The natural cycle of life is to grow and move forward but moving forward brings with it an element of the unknown. It is human nature to fear the unknown. Often it is difficult for people to take the steps required to move forward because of that fear. Deep down inside, they may know that much needed changes are required in order for improvement to take place in their life circumstances yet they find themselves unable to let go of the familiar comfort of the past.
